Katie's therapeutic approach is grounded in polyvagal theory and interpersonal neurobiology. She helps clients build emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and heal attachment wounds through compassionate, play-based, and trauma-informed care that honors each person’s story. She integrates mindfulness, expressive activities, and somatic awareness to support emotional regulation, resilience, and authentic connection in therapy.
Katie earned her Master’s of Social Work (MSW) degree from George Fox University in May 2024. Her professional experience includes in-home counseling, case management, crisis prevention, early childhood education, and parent support. Katie was deeply impacted by volunteering as a house parent for teen girls at a children’s home in rural Mexico, later serving on the U.S. board of directors for 20 years. This informed her belief that, despite our circumstances, all of us have capacity to heal and build resilience. Before becoming a therapist, Katie worked as a Spanish healthcare interpreter, which deepened her passion for serving the Latino population and addressing the need for more bilingual and bicultural providers.
Katie strives for empathetic listening, non-judgmental curiosity, fostering emotional resilience and healthier functioning with her clients. Katie is committed to decolonizing the compassionate care she provides, so that it is inclusive and affirming to people of all backgrounds, lived experiences, and lifestyles. Katie believes all people deserve a resonant, vibrant life, in tune with their innate wisdom, and she hopes that her clients feel deeply respected and seen.
Outside of work, Katie finds joy on her farm, including a fruit orchard, gardens, three sweet and sassy goats, fifteen chickens, three cats, and a silly dog. She also enjoys spending time with her family, making goat milk soap, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, and just about any type of card or board game.
