Thriving beyond "normal".

Expertise
While all of our therapists are authentically unique in their therapy style and approach, everyone is trained in neurodivergent and sensory affirming care, including ways to integrate experiential modalities that are client-centered.

Below are some of the theories and expertise that our staff are experienced in.

Attachment-Based Therapy is designed to increase the security of the attachment between a parent/caregiver and the child. Attachment-based therapy often involves fun and rewarding activities that enhance the attachment bond as well as help parents and other children in the family understand where issues come from and how to approach these issues in the future.

Filial Therapy is a psychoeducational family intervention in which the therapist trains and supervises parents as they hold special child-centered play sessions with their own children, thereby engaging parents as partners in the therapeutic process and empowering them to be the primary change agents for their own children. Child and Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) is a model of filial therapy founded upon the child-centered play therapy philosophy. It is an evidence-based parent-training intervention for treating children experiencing a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS®) is an evidence-based, trauma-informed practice that helps kids meet expectations, reduces concerning behavior, builds children’ skills, and improves family relationships.
Nature-Based Therapy is collaborating with Nature as a co-therapist regardless of setting to help in the treatment process. We all have a pre-existing relationship with Nature, and for some clients, including Nature as a part of the therapy process can help to promote things like mindfulness, regulation, perspective, and grounding.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based, short-term treatment designed to help young children (2-7 years old) with behavioral issues. PCIT treats the parent, the child, and most importantly their interactions.
Parent/Caregiver Training Parenting is CHALLENGING! In parent/caregiver training, therapists work with parents/caregivers to help them face difficult moments in parenting, as well as identify, address, and manage their own past or present experiences that may be affecting the way they relate to their child. Parent/Caregiver training can also help support the cohesion between parents, in approaching parenting through a unified front- creating a more structured and communicative environment for all.
Play Therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Play therapy utilizes play, children’s natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words. Play therapy can be an effective treatment for children experiencing difficulty in identifying, communicating, and regulating their emotions. Play therapy can support children as they learn to manage their emotions. The therapeutic relationship play therapy provides supports the development of positive and healthy attachments.
Foster and Adoption Therapy is working with therapists are specifically trained to provide therapy through the lens of fostering and adoption. This means they have the skills and knowledge to help your child and your family address unique fostering and adoption-specific challenges that other therapists might not be as equipped to handle. The five key principles of foster and adoption-competent mental health (according to the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative) are: Strengthening attachment; Supporting grief and loss; Understanding the impact of trauma on brain development and behavior; Promoting positive identity development; and Evaluating the impact of race, culture, and diversity.
